Lesson 2 M2 S1 _ HLM is a Small Group Church NOT a MEGA Church with Small Groups PART 2

The Vision of 12:

An example Jesus left us regarding DISCIPLESHIP in a Small Group
context [His 12].
Jesus had his 12.  He carefully discipled them to be ready to be sent into the world --- APOSTLES, apostolic in nature and design.
We must disciple to release -- HLM is apostolic in design.  Missions and Missional we are.

Notice: Jesus and His 12 Disciples:

• He CHOSE 12 to be his helpers and partners in ministering to the masses (see Matthew 9:35-10:1 and Mark 3:13, 14).

• He STAYED with them continually, hence, there is a permanence of relationships.

• He IMPARTED himself and modeled his life for them to follow so that in turn they were able to lead and disciple others.

SEND by TWOS.  This is our TEAM DEVELOPMENT.

At HIS LIFE MINISTRIES,
we believe that EVERYONE can be a leader and should be developed into one.
All should be prepared to be a Disciple-Maker in Small Groups (DISCIPLESHIP LIFE GROUPS).

Through the Vision of 12 at His Life Ministries, everyone is mentored so that, in turn, he can mentor others using the CROSSCOURSE, LGL+ curriculum / track (ALL MATERIALS ARE ALREADY MADE AVAILABLE FOR USE. ALL YOU HAVE TO DO IS ORDER THEM).

WE BELIEVE IN LONG TERM RELATIONSHIPS.
Dividing the DISCIPLESHIP LIFE GROUP is not the method used, instead,
RELEASING the ready (BEST is BY TWOS) to lead others is expected and are COVERED through the Leadership LIFE GROUP (LLG) meetings.
You must have LLG meetings already for ALL your "apostolic" LEADERS -- the ONES you sent to START SMALL GROUPS.

MORE in this PART 2 LESSON

HLM Priority:  Be a SMALL GROUP CHURCH and CHURCHES.
When we say SMALL GROUP CHRUCH:  it can begin with ONE in any LOCATION and can meet at ANY DAY.
When we say SMALL GROUP CHRUCHES:  this is now the PLURAL FORM, where many Small Groups MEET UP here and there and everywhere AND when THEY GATHER TOGETHER on a SUNDAY or ANY DAY of WORSHIP will become a CELEBRATION GATHERING (the Large GROUP MEET UP)

1
We don't just GATHER on a Sunday for a LARGE GROUP, rather we gather in Small Groups from Monday to Saturday THEN OUR SUNDAY BECOMES a Big Party!!!
It's HIGH RELATIONAL.

Why because we have 1 or 2 or 4 or 8 or 12 to 20 Little Groups FIRST.
IMAGINE its power when THEY ALL MEET!

THEN when they all UNITEDLY GATHER --- There is truly a Power Resurrection Celebration.
The FOCUS was not SUNDAY BIG GROUPS first but SMALL GROUPS within the WEEK towards a LARGE MEET UP.

The FOCUS was PEOPLE in Little Groups ....
Then we pray for a Mighty Sunday ....
A Reunion a Gathering of PEOPLE RELATED to one another and has received
PERSONAL MINISTRY before the Big Preaching Event!!!

IT IS POWERFUL!!!

What's the DIFFERENCE with
A CHURCH WITH SMALL GROUPS vs A Small Group Church ???

The Church with Small Groups is LIKE THE CATHEDRAL religious duty CHURCH,

  • Many People YET NOT InterRelated.
  • Many People BUT not carefully discipled
  • Many People BUT just watching a Concert, they do not even know the Name of their Life Group Leader (because there is NONE)
  • They Come and Go and NOT CHANGED after all

============

NOTE:
The JRS DAILY TRAINING GC is active and done Daily for 20 minutes only PER MODULE.
We have 3 MODULES per SEASON.  We will have 3 SEASONS in ONE year!

Usually the LESSONS will Only Take 10 to 15  Minutes to Review and to READ.
But a LIFETIME to get the IDEA and PRINCIPLES really rolling and working that must become a LIFESTYLE of an HLM servant leader in the context of SMALL GROUPS (DLG and LLG).

  2. Thank you for this insightful teaching Ptr. JR! I really appreciate the emphasis on HLM being a Small Group Church rather than just a church with small groups. What stood out to me most is how this model mirrors Jesus’ own disciple-making strategy — He intentionally chose his 12, stayed with them, imparted into them, and equipped them to go and make others disciples. That relational, reproducible approach highlights how every believer isn’t just a participant but is meant to grow into a disciple-maker themselves.

This teaching reminds me that true transformation happens not in crowds gathered only once a week, but in lifelong relationships, ongoing mentoring, and community lived out day by day. When small groups aren’t an add-on but the core of discipleship, we create spaces where people truly have a voice and hear, be able to know each other, care for one another, and are personally ministered to before we ever gather for larger celebrations.

I’m encouraged by the focus on releasing leaders by twos and prioritizing long-term relational discipleship — that’s where spiritual growth really flourishes. Looking forward to more on how this plays out in both small groups and celebration gatherings!

  4. Our Lord Jesus Christ modelled to us what is true discipleship. It's always start in making His 12, spending time with them, training them, imparting knowledge of the truth, faith and allowing them to experience miracles and the power of the Holy Spirit by sending them out to the world. πŸ™πŸ™ŒπŸ”₯
Indeed, church begins in small group set up.. thats the secret of producing quality and quantity disciples. Proven and tested by our Lord Jesus Christ and His apostles in the book of Acts!!! So blessed that until now we are following this biblical principles in our church today.. HalleluYah πŸ”₯πŸ”₯πŸ”₯
May we continue to humble ourselves knowing its all because of our Lord Jeus Christ, His word and the power of the Holy Spirit we can able really to make disciples of JESUS..that will bring forth FRUIT THAT WILL LAST. ALL GLORY TO GOD ALONE πŸ™ŒπŸ™ŒπŸ™Œ

  5. We are just following Jesus' example for discipleship. He make sure that He gave His focus, time and commitment to his 12 disciples. We create small to have a big impact to the lives of our disciples.

  7. We are so greatful that our Mentoring will really help alot for us. We are again reminded that HisLife Church is a small church not a MEGA church, but when all small churches will gather together wow Amazing lots people will be their and that's a big celebrations. That is why we will not stop Discipling our people to become a leaders, because at HisLife we believed that every members becomes a leader not only leader but leader of leaders. The example of Jesus these 12 chosen disciples, and majored on discipling, training and ultimately releasing them to do the work of the kingdom of God. If this is what Jesus did, who are we to try and do it any other way? Surely the Lord’s example is something we can follow. Amen!

  8. Catching this vision will make us fully understand what our church wants to become. I would like to share a concept i learned that in a way also helped me in making disciples atleast one step at a time " each one bring one " .. in dping this, we can really gather people and do witnessing until our 12 is formed put of it, but also not losing the rest. :)

  9. Thank you Pastor JR. Realizing what we are prepared to do and really understanding why we are doing it with the goal of making Jesus known drives us more to be more intentional in our respective small groups. We are a church with small groups.... We will grow as a church by winning 1 soule for Jesus. 1 soule at a time.... Praise be to God....

  11. To practically achieve the desired cumulative attendance, strengthening the discipleship lifegroup is a must. It would be a beautiful picture when not only biological families, friends, and colleagues come together on a Sunday, but also when a Discipleship Lifegroup comes together. For sure, laughter will be heard across the corner. People know each other. And the atmosphere will be lively. The path to reach the desired number is through the Discipleship Lifegroup. The best way to recruit people to join and be part of a ministry is through discipleship Lifegroup. With this, the Church will be alive, and she exists according to her design.

  12. Love how this lesson brings us back to Jesus, simple but powerful way of doing discipleship, life shared in smallgroups, intentional relationships. It’s refreshing to be reminded that the goal isn’t big crowds (later BIG if gathered in Sunday Worship), but people who are truly known, formed, connected, taught, and eventually released to lead others as well. When small groups are the focus, Sunday stops being just a service and becomes a real celebration of spiritual family and lives already touched during the weekday fellowship or the Vision of12 of Jesus. This really captures the heart of being a small group church, not just a church with small groups.

  13. As a learner, I’m truly grateful for the lessons from Pastor JR’s Daily Module 2.
It reminded me that discipleship is relationship, not just instruction.

As a believer in a small-group church that gathers in big celebration, our focus is narrowed to intentional discipleship—the E3 model: Engage, Equip, and Empower.

We believe in shrinking to grow, living out the “start small, think big” mindset modeled by our Lord Jesus Christ.

So yes—get up, gear up, and step up!

Here are my takeaways from today’s topic as a learner and disciple:

We’re a discipleship church, not a crowd church.
It starts small during the week, not just big on Sundays.
Small groups are where life really happens. Life to Life Conversation
People are known, prayed for, and cared for personally.
We grow together before we gather together.
Sunday feels like a family reunion, not a performance.
The message hits deeper because relationships are already built.
Everyone has a place, everyone has a voice.
We don’t just attend church—we do life together.
Small groups build disciples, and big celebrations tell the story. ( Based on HLM History)

  14. Jesus focused and discipled a few number of people. As a follower of Christ, we are to follow His character, we are to follow His example.
Discipleship is relationship, it's intentional, it's an avenue a group of people that journeys together, that encourages one another and backs one another in prayer. Small groups and discipleship is important because church is not a building that we go to it's the gathering of people that sits and hear the word of the Lord proclaimed.

  16. As a church we must stay focus on the vision that God has given us "Glorify God, Make Disciple" and in other for this to become a reality we must continue to embrace it, live by it, share it and develop others to become a Disciple maker also.

  17. PRAISE GOD for this lesson...Sunday works because Small Groups work.
Preaching carries power because people were prayed for, discipled, and loved before they entered the room.
    1. The focus is PEOPLE, not programs.
    2. RELATIONSHIP before REUNION.
    3. PASTORAL CARE before PLATFORM.

    This is high-relational, high-discipleship, high-power church.
This is how the early church shook cities.
This is how revival sustains not burns out. Small Groups build the Church. Sunday celebrates what God has already done.

    Small Groups Produce Spiritual Growth!

Small groups Give bigger impact to our churches.
It is with how we were able to Display the "Jesus way of Disciple making" Choose-- Stay--- Impart.. As it is design to create Spiritual growth with in the small group. Leading them how to become one and Growing with mindset of how to be more Like Jesus rather than to be a follower only. Everyone can be a Leader of one or two.. but not all are doing so..
We are a Small Group Church NOT a church with a Small Group.
A church with a Vision and a Purpose to pursue for Jesus' Glory Alone.

  20. Takeaway: Weekly small life groups are the center for discipleships (hence, the transition from being called "life groups" to DLG: "discipleship life groups). The discipleship lifegroup members are intentionally connected and personally ministered to before larger gatherings. Sunday celebrations become a big gathering or a reunion who already grew and are being cared for... because without discipleship life groups, people may attend services but feel disconnected or unchanged.
